On my most recent trip to Vancouver, Canada, something changed.

I’ve noticed recently that several established yoga studios have been supporting their communities by offering special packages that charge a lower fee per class. What a wonderful gesture to make, especially during these troubling economic times when so many people have been adversely affected.

So the first thing I did when I booked my flight was to draw up a list of questions for the airline staff.

Feeling stressed and in pain? There are so many factors that can cause us to feel tension – anything from a having bad day to the pressure of dealing with the recent downturn in the economy. And these stresses can so easily manifest themselves in our bodies. Even with a regular yoga practice, we are susceptible to nagging aches, pains, and lingering tensions – all of which can be difficult to relieve.

Poverty is all around us. Perhaps some of us are fortunate enough not to have it right on our doorstep, but we’ve all seen and read about the devastating conditions that many people live in. And I’m sure, like me, you’ve often wondered what you – as only one person – can do to help alleviate all this suffering.
